Jeff Zemencsik (Houston, TX) – Strong winds challenge
GCAmTour-Houston players at the Quail Valley Championship, Missouri City,
Texas. The winds made the course play
very firm and fast, producing competitive scoring in several closely contested
flights.
The Course:
Quail Valley Golf Club, Missouri City, Texas. The course was in spring transition with a
mix of mostly green and some dormant grasses.
Like many courses this early in the year, running about a month behind
due to the cold winter. The winds dried
the course out producing very firm and fast conditions. The greens were in good condition, smooth
and fast, running 10.0+.
The Weather:
It was a nice day to be outside with a mix of blue sky, clouds, and
sunshine. The temperatures were in the
mid to upper 70’s and made it 80 degrees later in the afternoon. The winds were strong at times, making the
tight layout challenging for everyone.
The winds were steady from the S 15-20mph throughout the day, making
scoring difficult but competitive.
