Rick Halprin (Jones Flight) and Charles Watson (Snead Flight), were "Up for the Srixon Challenge", winning his prospective flight playing a Srixon ball and will get a dozen sent to them for the win. Robert Hayward (Senior Hogan Flight) went on to win for the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving. Senior Sarazen Flight member, Greg Faubion, took a six iron to the par three 15th from 157 yards into the wind to score his second career Hole in One, his first in 45 years.
The winner of the Feherty's Troops First Foundation 50/50 raffle, grabbed $490, bringing the year to date total from the Texas Tours to $2,310, contributed to the Foundation.
RESULTS:
Championship Flight: Twenty year old, Derek Husband of Kingwood, TX, won his first event on tour at the 2015 Friendswood Challenge at Timber Creek, then went eight events out of the top spot, to grab his second win on tour this weekend. Husband, carded two birdies on the front nine, added three more on the back to go -1 for the day, four strokes ahead of Jordan Wagner of Houston, TX. Wagner, with two birdies of his own, edged out Katy, TX, player Rich Vigil, a winner his last time out at the Golf Club of Houston for the runner up spot.
Palmer Flight: Coupland, TX, member Chris Wadle, made four birdies on the round to pick up his third win of the season and fifth on tour since 2011. Four strokes back, the pair of Aaron Brougher of Spring, TX, and Tomball, TX player, James Sheppeard, shared the runner up honors.
Senior Palmer Flight: Fresh off a plane from Hawaii, Milton Kirkwood from Pasadena, TX, picked up his first win on tour, in four years of competition with the help of a birdie on the par 4 - 14th. One stroke back, Houston, TX, player Bruce Beakley, with three birdies on the round, took home the second place finish with Dennis Walsh, of Groves, TX rounding out the top three.
Hogan Flight: First time player, Brian Jordan of Houston, TX carded an eagle on his first hole of the day, the par 5 - 1st to force a playoff with Deer Park, TX, player Al Campo. Back to the 1st hole for sudden death, Jordan would sink a par putt for his first win, relegating Campo to the runner up finish, with Orange, TX, resident Matt Purgahn and Steve Nagy of Sugar Land, TX, splitting the third place finish.
Senior Hogan Flight: Houston, TX, member Robert Hayward, lapped the field with five birdies and a +2 - 73, for his fourth win on tour and second of the season. Mike Hafner of Katy, TX, with a birdie on the par 4 - 9th, finished six strokes back for the runner up spot, two strokes ahead of Richmond, TX, player Christopher Phillips with a birdie of his own on the par 4- 2nd.
Sarazen Flight: Blake Barnes, of Deer Park, TX struggled out of the gate, but then went on to birdie three holes on the day, to finish out the win with a two stroke advantage. For Barnes it was his ninth win on tour and first since the March 2015 Galveston Island Championship. Houston, TX tour players, George Horton, using three birdies on the round, finished out in the runner up spot with Massimo Passini, making the best of two birdies of his own taking the third place honors.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Chris Neeley of Spring, TX, finished out his Senior National Championship Qualification third win on the season, with four birdies on the round. Two strokes back, Houston, TX resident, John Scott, finished in the runner up spot with a birdie on his round, two strokes ahead of five players knotted in the third place finish. Glynn Aldredge, of Orange, TX, Pearland, TX, Michael Bell, Minnesota visitor Steven Holland of Hendricks, MN, Richmond, TX member Greg Faubion with an ACE on the par 3 - 15th and Mark Kirby of Bridge City, TX, split the third place finish.
Jones Flight: Rick Halprin, of Houston, TX, picked up his tenth win on tour and second of the season. Sealy, TX, local Mark Boles, grabbed the runner up finish, just two strokes back with Montgomery, TX, player John Pickens rounding out the top three with the help of two birdies on the round.
Snead Flight: Hill Country traveling player, Charles Watson, of Llano, TX, made two birdies on the day to pick up his first win on tour. Three strokes back, Conroe, TX member, Carl Eaton with two birdies of his own, finished in the second place spot with Javier Quintero of Houston, TX, taking the show place honors.
