A beautiful Spring day blesses GCAmTour-Houston players at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, TX. Players take advantage of the perfect scoring conditions and go low.
The Course: High Meadow Ranch GC, Magnolia, TX. The course was in spring conditions; green and beautiful, making it’s transition to warmer weather. The greens were coming in, medium speed, running around 9.
The Weather: One of the most beautiful days we have seen this year, sunshine and mixed clouds. Temperatures were in the high to mid 80’s and cooled in the late afternoon. The winds were light throughout the afternoon.
The Tournament:
Championship Flight: Top 5: Chad Carroll (71), Rikki Lackey (73), Craig Wakefield (77), Adam Kuzinski (78), Lynn Cormier (81).
Chad Carroll captured his first tour victory with a tournament best round of 1-under par 71. Chad was solid on the round, carding thirteen pars and birdies at holes 8, 12, and 15. Rikki Lackey made his tour debut with a runner up finish and round of 1-over par 73. Lackey carded twelve pars and birdies at holes 13, 15, and 17. Craig Wakefield captured third place honors with a round of 77, including eleven pars and birdies at holes 2 and 7. Adam Kuzinski finished with fourth place honors and round of 78. Kuzinski carded eight pars and birdies at holes 10, 16, and 17. Lynn Cormier finished with fifth place honors and round of 81. Cormier carded fourteen pars on the day.
Palmer Flight: Top 5: Rusty Stark (76), Kevin Duke (78/40), James Temple (78/41), Travis Nichols (79/40), Martin Nealey (79/41).
Rusty Stark made his tour debut capturing his first tour victory with a round of 76, two strokes clear of the field. Stark was steady, carding fourteen pars and four bogies. Kevin Duke returned to tour play and finished runner up. Duke’s round of 78/40 included eleven pars and a birdie at the 18th hole. James Temple finished with third place honors and round of 78/41. Temple carded eight pars and birdies at holes 5, 8, and 18. Travis Nichols continues to play well and finished with fourth place honors. Nichols round of 79/40 included thirteen pars. Martin Nealey followed his victory at River Ridge with a fifth place finished and round of 79/41. Nealey carded eight pars and birdies at holes 3 and 17.
Senior Palmer Flight: Top 5: Jan Peebles (76), Walter Menuet (77/38/25), Dusty Rhodes (77/38/26), Traylor Sells (81), Joe Sublett (82).
Jan Peebles captured his first victory of the 2012 season by one stroke over the field and round of 76. Peebles was steady on his round, carding fourteen pars and a birdie at the 4th hole. Walter Menuet captured runner up honors with a round of 77/38/25, carding thirteen pars. Dusty Rhodes finished with third place honors and round of 77/38/26, including thirteen pars. Traylor Sells finished fourth place, carding a round of 81, including seven pars and birdies at holes 10 and 11. Joe Sublett finished with fifth place honors and round of 82, carding eleven pars.
Hogan Flight: Top 5: Kevin Agee (82), Peter Brohn (86), Jeff Stahlhut (87), Tom Turner (88), Gus Aldana (93).
Kevin Agee captured his first victory of the 2012 season four strokes clear of the field and round of 82. Agee carded eight pars and a birdie at the 1st hole en route to victory. Peter Brohn finished runner up with a round of 86. Brohn carded nine pars and birdies at holes 2 and 15. Jeff Stahlhut finished with third place honors and round 87, carding six pars and a birdie at the 6th hole. Tom Turner captured a fourth place finish and round of 88. Turner carded four pars and a birdie at the 13th hole. Gus Aldana finished with fifth place honors and round of 93. Aldana carded three pars on the day.
Senior Hogan Flight: Top 5: Michael Walker (75), George Smith (77), Randy Kiziah (79), Kevin Nelson (81/41), Doyle Wofford (81/43).
Michael Walker captured his second victory of the season with another break out round, shooting 75. Walker carded twelve pars and birdies at holes 5 and 9, looking for a flight promotion? George Smith finished runner up with a round of 77. Smith’s round included eight pars and birdies at holes 5, 11, and 17. Randy Kiziah captured third place honors and round of 79. Kiziah carded seven pars and birdies at holes 5, 12, and 17. Kevin Nelson finished fourth place and carded a round of 81/41, including ten pars. Doyle Wofford made his tour debut with a fifth place finish and round of 81/43, including ten pars and a birdie at the 2nd hole.
Sarazen Flight: Top 5: Brandon Bellinger (88), Matt Purgahn (89), David Cox (90), Jason Hollis (91), Gary Gum (92).
Brandon Bellinger captured his first tour victory by one stroke over the field and round of 88. Bellinger carded seven pars and a birdie at the 1st hole. Matt Purgahn followed his victory at River Ridge with a runner up finish at High Meadow Ranch. Purgahn carded five pars and birdies at holes 8 and 10 en route to a round of 89. David Cox finished with third place honors and round of 90, carding seven pars. Jason Hollis finished with fourth place honors and round of 91, carding five pars and a birdie at the 17th hole. Gary Gum finished with fifth place honors and round of 92, including five pars.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Top 5: Will Whitley (79), Mark Kirby (83), Lane McKinney (84), Bob Gonzales (88), John Jamarik (89).
Will Whitley captured his second victory of the season carding a round of 79, four strokes clear of the field. Whitley carded eight pars and birdies at holes 2, 3, and 13. Mark Kirby finished runner up with a round of 83. Kirby has been playing well lately and carded nine pars on his round. Lane McKinney captured third place honors and round of 84, including seven pars and a birdie at the 4th hole. Bob Gonzales finished with fourth place honors and round of 88. Gonzales carded six pars and a birdie at the 2nd hole. John Jamarik made his tour debut with a fifth place finish and round of 89, carding three pars and birdies at holes 1 and 5.
Jones Flight: Top 5: James Sheppeard (81), Brock Mayberry (87), Terron Gaines (88), Rich Kelley (91/44), Hal Wychopen (91/44).
James Sheppeard captured his third victory of the season and solidified his promotion to the Sarazen Flight, congratulations! Sheppeard’s victory and round of 81 was six strokes clear of the field, including ten pars. Brock Mayberry finished runner up with a round of 87, carding eight pars and a birdie at the 8th hole. Terron Gaines made his tour debut with a third place finish and round of 88, including six pars and a birdie at the 10th hole. Rich Kelley finished with fourth place honors and round of 91/44, carding five pars and a birdie at the 13th hole. Hal Wychopen finished with fifth place honors and round of 91/44, including five pars.
Senior Jones Flight: Top 5: Michael Bell (86), Mark Boles (88), Neil MacDonald (92), Mark Dion (93/45), Mike Innes (93/49).
Michael Bell captured his second victory of the season by carding a round of 86. Bell’s round included seven pars and a birdie at the 10th hole. Mark Boles finished runner up with a round of 88, carding three pars. Neil MacDonald finished with third place honors and round of 92. MacDonald carded six pars on the day. Mark Dion finished with fourth place honors and round of 93/45, including four pars. Mike Innes finished with fifth place honors and round of 93/49. Innes carded three pars on the round.
Snead Flight: Dale Baggett (91), Jim Lamberth (91/47/33/16/4), Kristopher Bixby (91/47/33/16/5), Alan Patterson (97), Patrick Richardson (99).
“Scorecard Playoff” determines winner of the closely contested Snead Flight at High Meadow Ranch. With darkness falling we went to the scorecards to determine the champion. Dale Baggett captured his first tour victory on the first tiebreaker and round of 91/46, including seven pars. Jim Lamberth finished runner up on the fifth tiebreaker and round of 91/47/33/16/4, carding four pars on the round. Kristopher Bixby finished third place with a round of 91/47/33/16/5, carding five pars. Alan Patterson finished with fourth place honors and round of 97, including four pars and a birdie at the 13th hole. Patrick Richardson finished with fifth place honors and round of 99, including three pars and a birdie at the 13th hole.
